The Core Principles
The core principles are not just a procedure or a checklist, it is a fundamental way of thinking Reused Wood Packaging from product development and design to usage and re-usage:
NEVER CREATE SOMETHING NEW, IF YOU CAN REUSE
The first and most fundamental principle is to never create new packaging, when you can reuse existing packaging. If you do not adhere to this, the positive effects can never and will never be as large as possible.
MINIMISE: PACK SMARTER, NOT HARDER
You can always add more packaging, but it will not do anything good for minimising usage of natural resources. Smart packaging is a knowledge to be developed and improved while still considering handling as well as personnel and product safety.
IF POSSIBLE, THINK OF REUSING THE REUSED
Personnel and product safety comes first, but smart developers of course think about how to reuse the reused. Wood is a strong material, that cannot just be reused once, so think how to reuse it again and again when developing products.
THINK ABOUT OTHERS: MAKE IT MANAGEABLE
The perfect wood packaging might be minimal and protective for both personnel and product, but is it manageable and easy to handle? If not, you will waste unnecessary resources and manhours on extra handling, equipment, and transport.
